BetterOzInternet has been set up to 'wake Australia up' to the inadequacies of Fibre to the Node compared to a Fibre to the Home (premises) infrastructure. Even the latest 'mish-mash called Fibre to the distribution point (Fttdp) - albeit 'kicking the can down the road further with the added construction costs - will eventually need to be replaced by a full fibre roll-out.
This blog is designed to 'get the discussion going' while a BetterOzInternet.org is being setup, just in case Mr Turnbull calls a double dissolution of the Australian parliament this week..
At least 'early adopters' will be able to sign a(nother!) petition (on Change.org) that has more 'bite' as it will be tied to a crowd Funding campaign (on Chuffed.org) to this issue across the country. The power of these two campaigns backed by the BetterOzInternet.org web site (with lots of supplementary information to facilitate electoral and local 'spot' campaigns) is far less likely to get ignored like the 2013 petition, simply because it can harvest the current level of 'anger' and really threaten the survival of the Liberal/National government. .The only 'safe' strategy for Mr. Turnbull is to go back to 'full FTTP' rollout BEFORE the election so that LNP supporters can have both FTTP AND a coalition government.
